Cable is for the Birds

Today’s television is really just irrelevant. I don’t know one person who really uses cable. My grandmother does though now that I think about it. But honestly, no one uses cable. Everything is all about streaming, which in a way is cheaper than cable but not by much when you subscribe to a bunch of streaming platforms such as Hulu, Netflix, Prime video etc. The only thing that I feel like people should actually pay for is the internet.

All of the cable networks have their own streaming app. For example, BET network now has BET+. Which gives you exclusive shows to watch. At that point, what is the purpose of paying for cable if you aren't even getting all the shows that come with the network. In this day and age cable is not necessa

ry anymore and in the next few years I believe that cable will be no more. Over the course of the next 10 years cable will start to diminish. I definitely think that cable companies will not even be cable companies. I feel as though it’s going to turn into internet companies. Cable is already high priced so why not cut your cable bill out and just pay for the internet. Which honestly isn’t fair to all the elderly people because I know for sure my grandma loves her cable package. It comes with phone, cable, and internet. It’s really crazy that this woman doesn't even own a laptop or smartphone to even have internet but it's not like telling her that is going to make a difference.

I know that once I get out on my own and really start to have to pay bills, I will not have a cable bill in the pile. All I need in my life is Netflix, Hulu, and Prime video. Prime video has also made it so much easier because you can just attach other streaming platforms like HBO, STARZ, SHOWTIME, and much more. Which is even better for my pockets because Netflix is attached to my phone bill so it comes with it. I’m logged into my brothers account for Hulu. So all I have to pay for is Prime. So I’m really winning in the end because the most I pay monthly is about 15 dollars to watch television. That price is most likely going to go up because Disney is coming out with a new streaming platform and if they put all my favorite classic shows like Proud Family, That’s So Raven, and Kim Possible then you better believe I will be more than happy to pay for that subscription.

That is definitely how these networks continue to make more money and people continue to keep subscribing because they put all classic shows that people use to love. People are suckers for nostalgia. Especially in this day in an age where everything keeps getting remade. And the fact that they are not doing the best job witjh these remakes makes you want to watch the original version even more. .Cable TV is on its deathbed. Cable TV is dying, which is a very good thing. ... Adrian D. Garcia of Bankrate is projecting "by the end of 2018, a total of 33 million U.S. adults will have cut the cord on cable, satellite or telco TV service to date — up 32.8 percent from 24.5 million in 2017.
